Join NJVMA and Drs. John Lewis and Carlos Rice at the Silo Academy Education Center for a two-day immersive canine and feline dental course involving lectures and hands-on wet labs. Only 12 seats are available! Register TODAY!
September 14: This one-day comprehensive course will combine ample hands-on laboratory time and lecture for veterinarians, teaching important techniques in surgical extraction of firmly rooted teeth, with a focus on flap extractions of maxillary and mandibular canine teeth, maxillary fourth premolar teeth and mandibular first molar teeth. Also, oral surgery nerve blocks will be taught in laboratory. Attendees will take home a set of curated oral surgery instruments.
- 8:30-9:00am: Introduction and refreshments
- 9:00-9:50am: Lecture by Dr. Lewis – “Surgical Extraction Techniques: Don’t Pull ‘Em…Flap ‘Em!”
- 10:00-10:30am: Lecture by Dr. Lewis – “Regional Nerve Blocks for Oral Surgery”
- 10:30-11:00am: Lecture by Dr. Lewis – “How I Treat Persistent Deciduous Canine Teeth”
- 11:15am-12:05pm: Lecture by Dr. Lewis – “Dental Radiograph Interpretation”
- 12:05-12:30pm: Lunch (provided as part of your registration fee)
- 12:30-1:00pm: Lecture by Dr. Lewis – “Dental Radiograph Interpretation II: Advanced Cases”
- 1:00-4:30pm: Laboratory with Dr. Rice
- Group 1 & 2: Surgical Extractions in Dogs (Maxillary 4th Premolar, Mandibular 1st Molar)
- Group 1 (1:30-2:00pm): Oral Surgery Nerve Blocks
- Group 2 (2:30-3:00pm): Oral Survery Nerve Blocks
- 4:30-5:00pm: “Ask the Specialists – Questions, Answers and Futher Discussion Topics
September 15: Surgical Extrations and Nerve Blocks in Cats – This one-day course will include lectures in the morning, discussions over lunch consisting of local fare, and wet lab in the afternoon. The focus will be on surgical extractions in cats, with a side topic of demonstration of common nerve blocks used in oral surgery. Tuition cost includes a set of oral surgery instruments that participants can take home! Taught by John Lewis and/or another board-certified diplomate of the AVDC.
