Dr. Robert P Gordon, DVM, MPH (1949-2024) Dr. Gordon was born in Paterson, NJ, and received his veterinary degree from the University of Bologna. He worked at Meisels Animal Hospital and then purchased Oakland Animal Hospital in 1977. In the days following September 11, 2021, he volunteered to care for the search-and-rescue dogs at Ground Zero. Dr. Gordon was a past president of NJVMA, a former board member for the Atlantic Coast Veterinary Conference, a former NJVMA delegate to AVMA, and the Chair of the AVMF. Dr. Carolyn G Self, DVM (1944-2024) Dr. Self was a graduate of Tuskegee University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. When she began working at Collingswood Veterinary Hospital, she became one of the first black female veterinarians to practice in southern New Jersey. Dr. Self was a member of the NJVMA Board of Directors, NJ Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, and the AVMA.
