Michelle M. Capps graduated from Camden County College’s Veterinary Technology program in Blackwood, New Jersey, and obtained her certification in 2013. Additionally, Michelle attended Rowan University, where she was an honors graduate, received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, and minored in Biological Sciences. Michelle has been affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania’s Ryan Veterinary Hospital since 2012 and is the surgery supervisor. Her professional interests include Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), feline renal transplantation, lecturing, assisting with data collection for veterinary research, and writing for publication. Most recently, she co-authored a textbook chapter covering operating room tips for veterinary technicians in the second edition of Small Animal Surgical Emergencies. Michelle passed the Academy of Veterinary Surgical Technicians (AVST) specialty examination in October 2023.

Janet McConnell is proud to be in her 44th year as a certified veterinary technician, filling clinical roles in general and specialty practice, as well as education, professional development, and management roles in corporate practice over her career. 

Ms. McConnell is currently the program director of the NAVTA-approved Brookdale Community College’s Veterinary Assistant Program in collaboration with Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, which she helped co-develop. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Associated Humane Society – Tinton Falls.

Ms. McConnell’s passion is combining education with fun to help provide best practices for educating clients on preventive healthcare for their pets.
