Jill Clark spent 17 years as an Assistant Director on feature films, commercials, and documentaries before changing direction and becoming a veterinarian in 1996. She practiced in a multi-doctor group of small animal practices known for creating an exceptional client experience as an associate and then as Medical Director before joining a group of entrepreneurial veterinarians who grew their hospital group from 8 to 80 hospitals. She was vice president of Operations for this group before joining VCA, managing 22 general and specialty practices with a continued focus on client experience as a competitive advantage. In 2009, she joined VCA’s Executive Team and was responsible for VCA’s doctor recruiting team as well as creating VCA’s corporate university, WOOF-U, which served over 24,000 veterinary team members. In 2016, Dr. Clark founded IGNITE Veterinary Solutions, a modern learning company focused on bringing high-end learning experiences to all veterinary teams across the globe. She has a special passion for Client Service teams and elevating their role to its fullest in our profession. She is one of the founders of the newly formed, North American Association of Veterinary Receptionists.
Kathleen Cooney, DVM, CHPV, has been practicing advanced end-of-life care since 2006. Dr. Cooney is Senior Director of Medical Education for the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (CAETA). She is well-known for her work in companion animal euthanasia and has authored two books on the subject along with numerous articles and book chapters. Dr. Cooney has collaborated in end-of-life training for the AVMA, AAHA, NAVC, IAAHPC, the Fear Free Program, and many more. She is a strong advocate for best practices in all aspects of end-of-life care and speaks nationally and internationally on such topics. Dr. Cooney is currently working towards board certification in animal welfare, expected in 2024 and is Affiliate Faculty at Colorado State University where she teaches end-of-life topics and animal welfare. She loves all things old and gray.
David McCormick, MS, CVA is a veterinary practice appraiser, broker and transaction specialist with Simmons & Associates. For over 20 years he has been valuing practices (over 1,000!), facilitating successful practice transactions and helping current and future practice owners reach their goals. He teaches nationally and internationally on topics including practice value & practice financial health, buying/selling a practice, exit planning and other practice ownership issues. When not working, he can be found with his wife Susan and their twin 17 year old sons or he is probably on a nearby disc golf course.
Rebecca Rose, RVT, certified career coach, has a diverse background in the veterinary community as a credential team member and leader. She has worked in and managed veterinary clinics, collaborates with industry partners, authors articles and books, and facilitates engaging team workshops. Rose’s enthusiasm for professional development in veterinary medicine is contagious, as she encourages and supports veterinary teams in reaching their highest potential. She believes there are ample opportunities in veterinary medicine to build and maintain a healthy, sustainable life and career.
