NJVMA is inviting passionate, service-minded veterinarians to step into leadership. We’re accepting nominations for two Executive Board seats (terms begin May 2026) and for NJVMA’s Delegate and Alternate Delegate to the AVMA House of Delegates (HOD). If you’re ready to help shape the direction of NJVMA and the profession in New Jersey, we want to hear from you

1) NJVMA Executive Board — Call for Candidates

The Executive Board sets the association’s strategic direction—where we focus our energy, resources, and advocacy.

Service at a Glance

  • Time commitment: ~1 hour/month (primarily email and Zoom)
  • In-person meeting: One meeting currently scheduled for May 2026, just prior to NJVMA’s annual conference
  • Term: 3 years — May 16, 2026 through mid-May 2029

Eligibility

  1. You must be a licensed veterinarian
  2. You must have joined NJVMA on/before May 17, 2023 and remained a member continuously since then

Applicants are required to answer several questions posed by the Nominating Committee, as well as provide a current resume/CV, biography, and photo suitable for publication. Should the applicant be placed on the ballot, NJVMA will publish the applicant’s replies to the questions, the applicant’s biography, and the applicant’s photo exactly as submitted.

2) NJVMA Delegates to the AVMA House of Delegates 

We are also seeking two AVMA-member veterinarians to serve as NJVMA’s Delegate and Alternate Delegate to the AVMA HOD, the AVMA’s principal policy-making body.

What to Expect

  • Meetings: In conjunction with the AVMA Convention (typically August) and the AVMA Veterinary Leadership Conference (typically January)
  • Support: AVMA provides travel, hotel, and meals
  • Role: Represent NJVMA at HOD meetings, bring issues back to the NJVMA Board, and provide a brief post-meeting update for the NJVMA newsletter
  • Engagement: Delegate and/or Alternate Delegate are invited to attend NJVMA Executive Board meetings (typically six per year)
  • Term: Four years, beginning May 2026.

Important: Members of NJVMA’s Executive Board are not eligible to serve as Delegate or Alternate Delegate on behalf of any veterinary organization represented in the HOD.
